As per Article 6 of Schengen Borders Code, Indian nationals who are visiting France/Schengen Area for not more than 90 days for tourist/private trips should :
- justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay,
- have sufficient means of subsistence, both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to their country of origin or transit to a third country,
2. List of supporting documents which the French Frontier Police may request in order to verify the fulfilment of above conditions:
- Lodging:
- an invitation from the host if staying with one;
- a supporting document from the establishment providing lodging or any other appropriate document indicating the accommodation envisaged[e.g. attestation d'accueil by concerned Marie in case the individual is staying with his/her relatives];
- Itinerary:
- confirmation of the booking of an organised trip or any other appropriate document indicating the envisaged travel plans;
- Return:
- a return or round-trip ticket;
3. The means of subsistence is assessed in accordance with the duration and purpose of stay and by reference to average prices in France for board and lodging in budget accommodation, multiplied by the number of days stayed.The assessment of sufficient means of subsistence may be based on the cash, travellers’ cheques and credit cards. [Declarations of sponsorship, where such declarations are provided for by French law and letters of guarantee from hosts, as defined by French law, where the third-country national is staying with a host, may also constitute evidence of sufficient means of subsistence.]
